Heading on your next adventure? Whether on foot or in a vehicle, solo or part of a group, a satellite phone is a must-have. If you think a mobile phone is enough, think again. Over 80% of Australia has absolutely NO mobile coverage.
Most popular remote destinations such as Cape York, Kimberley, Arnhem Land, Canning Stock Route and many others have nothing in the way of mobile coverage with the exception of a handful of towns and communities which can be average at best. Carrying a UHF CB radio with you or in your vehicle is a good investment anyway, but if it’s a vehicle-related emergency or there’s nobody else around this may not be an option.
