Sept 2014 – Renta2way provided us a Sat phone for our trip along the Anne Beadell Highway, when we could not make contact with our desired 1800 emergency phone number Renta2way contacted the company for us, delivered our message and then rang to make sure we were OK. We were in a power of strife and Renta2way went above and beyond with their customer service. We are safe and very grateful. Thanks especially to Jason.
Heading on your next adventure? Whether on foot or in a vehicle, solo or part of a group, a satellite phone is a must-have. If you think a mobile phone is enough, think again. Over 80% of Australia has absolutely NO mobile coverage.
Most popular remote destinations such as Cape York, Kimberley, Arnhem Land, Canning Stock Route and many others have nothing in the way of mobile coverage with the exception of a handful of towns and communities which can be average at best. Carrying a UHF CB radio with you or in your vehicle is a good investment anyway, but if it’s a vehicle-related emergency or there’s nobody else around this may not be an option.
The most reliable method of communication in these areas is satellite. Provided you have a clear and unobstructed view of a healthy portion of the sky, you can be comfortable knowing you’re in communication should any unforeseen events occur. Our rental Satellite Phones all operate on the Iridium network which is the only truly global network.
